Bible Reading

Bible Reading

Here at The Chapel, we not only encourage you to read the Bible, we want to introduce you to a way of engaging with the Bible that will not only enrich your spiritual journey, it will also equip you as you seek to inspire others to follow Jesus.

This ‘new way’ is called a Discovery Bible Study (DBS). You can explore it more here. view

That said, in Ephesians 5:26-27 we read that Jesus wants to make us, his church, holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Therefore, as well as engaging with the Bible through a DBS, we would also strongly encourage you to simply sit and read through the Bible, to let it “wash over you”, bringing cleansing and refreshing. (I know that might sound strange, but can I encourage you to try it!)

Try a Daily Word Study

Another approach that some have found helpful is a Daily Word Study. Choose a word and, each day, follow that word through the Bible. Simply take one occurrence each day, copy the verse into a notebook or onto a device. Spend some time reflecting on the verse, asking God to speak then taking note of the thoughts that come. Pick a word and just give it a go.
