Often, when we think of Confession, our first thought is, “Admitting when I’ve done wrong.” That is certainly an important element of confession.
“Therefore confess your sins to each otherJames 5:16
and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
However, there is also the element of a positive confession.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’Romans 10:9
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
“Therefore whoever confesses me before men,Matthew 10:32
him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”
And then there is the confession we make, the declarations we make as we align our words with the Word of God.
“We demolish arguments and every pretension2 Corinthians 10:5
that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
So… as you take time this month to read the Bible, the Word of God… ask yourself: Do my thoughts, the things I think and say about myself, align with what God says about me in His Word?
